While buying a printer, do not just go by the sales figure of a brand or model, as the company will not tell you the running cost of the printer in terms of cartridge replacement, or per page printing cost. There is also no way of finding out readily from the manufacturer or dealer, what damages the printer will cost in energy consumption in the stand-by or active mode.

How the tests were conducted?

consumer-voice.org undertook testing of the 12 brands of Inkjet Printers through International Consumer Research and Testing (ICRT).ICRT is an association of 37 consumer organisations from 33 countries worldwide. These tests are conducted in internationally reputed labs and are based on relevant national and international standards. The testing of inkjet and laser printers was carried out by ICRT according to international standards in Europe. Around 10-20 samples of the products are tested and the participating member countries procure these samples.
