If you thought using phenyls would help ward off insects and pests from your homes, think again. Of the ten brands of phenyls tested by consumer-voice.org, only one brand manages to pass tests according to Indian standards.
Out of the 10 brands tested, only four of the phenolic category are ISI-marked, and even those that have ISI mark, flout BIS standards.
Brands perform miserably in the all-important ‘germicidal value' test. This test determines how effective phenyls or cleaners are in killing germs.
ISI brands are being imitated by cheaper, spurious brands.
