Complaint:
Forged charges in mobile phone bill Airtel has charged me for music station charges and chat services in my bills for July 2008, while I have not subscribed to any of these services ever. I have also made a request at customer care many times for discontinuance of these charges in future bills and reversal of previous charges but every time I am told that Airtel is unable to process the request because the servers are not working. It is hard to believe that servers of a leading telecom company of the country are not working for past four months. I have also talked to Airtels customer care every month but neither have these charges been discontinued nor have I got the waiver for previous charges. If for any reason Airtel is not able to reverse these charges or unable to stop this charge from being billed to me, I would like the number to be disconnected. Deepak Gupta Delhi

Feedback:
Consumer VOICE responds The grievance is required to be brought to the notice of the nodal officer of Airtel for reversal of charges.

Complaint:
VXL Realtors dont deliver on promises I had booked a flat in Eastern heights, Indirapuram, Uttar Pradesh with flat number D-304, which was later changed to B6-303, even when the Ghaziabad Development Authority had cancelled the permission for flats from 5th floor onwards. My father had also bought a flat D-303 in the Eastern Heights, Indirapuram, which was an adjoining flat but it has been changed to B5-304 and both the flats are not adjoined now. My father and I had given an application that both flats be clubbed but till date, nothing has been done about it. In July 2007, we got a demand letter from VXL Realtors for payment of the "roof cost of the basement", which I duly paid. The letter said that the construction was in full swing but till date even the excavation has not been done for the Block No-B-5 and B-6. This even when I had made payment for the excavation in January 2007. It is a fraud and VXL Realtors should refund the payment made for the excavation with interest at the rate of 18% as is mentioned in the agreement. The agreement says that the possession of the flat will be given by October 2008 with grace period of three months. i.e. January 2009. The agreement also says that in case the company fails to provide the possession of the flat in January 2009, it will pay the fine @ Rs 5 per square feet per month. If the company does not pay up, I may have to take the help of consumer court for this. Mohit Kumar Gupta New Delhi

Feedback:
Consumer VOICE responds The complainant has been advised to send a notice to the builder for refund of the deposit amount with interest as the builder has failed to fulfil its obligations, which are part of the agreement.

Complaint:
Reliance hurries to bar outgoing calls I had bought a Reliance connection with a free Reliance to Reliance (STD & local) plan, with a minimum of Rs 750 per month as rentals. On 24 Dec 2008, I received an SMS and a call stating that my bill for the phone has exceeded Rs 1200 and this was over my credit limit of Rs 800. I was told to pay the bill immediately or the outgoing services will be stopped. This was indeed done by the afternoon. I wish to point out the following: (a) At the time of purchase of connection, no mention had been made about the credit limit. Even if the credit limit had been created later, Reliance should have informed me by email about the credit limit and/or my exceeding the credit limit or bill payment. (b) The notice to pay the bill was too short. What was the urgency that I could not be given even 12 hours and the outgoing services were stopped immediately? Therefore, the stopping of outgoing services is illegal and amounts to deficiency in service. The calls to pay the billed amount, at very short notice, amount to harassment. Atul Asthana

Feedback:
Consumer VOICE responds The complaint has been referred to the company for resolution. We are awaiting their response as to why outgoing service was stopped. Although the complainant has forwarded copy of email to TRAI yet the authority deals with the complaints of generic nature and not individual nature. You can also lodge a complaint on phone about the problem with the National Consumer Helpline at 1800-11-4000. Meanwhile, you may like to get your grievance published in newspaper columns and send a copy of it to the Reliance top management.

Complaint:
Collection agents trouble I have been receiving calls from Reliance Communications collection agents who have been asking me by when I will pay the current bill amount. This was done even when the due date for payment of bills had still not arrived. When Reliance has clearly mentioned the "due" date on the bill, why are its agencies asking me for the payment before time? I would like to know if Reliance has authorised such agencies for collection of payment, and if yes, what guidelines have been issued to them? I have had such experiences with Reliance before, and then the nodal officers assistant had assured me that this would not happen in the future. What if I am at roaming locations when such calls are made and I have to pay incoming roaming call charges for such calls? Hasmukh Nagori Pune

Feedback:
Consumer VOICE responds The complaint has been taken up with Reliance Communications so that the company may instruct its collection agents to desist from coercive tactics. We hope they will respond.

Complaint:
Airtel: unexpected change of rental plan My phone services plan has been changed by Airtel without the service provider informing me. Airtel has changed my rental plan to Rs 300 instead of Rs 99 and has sent me bills for the last two months with this plan. As I had not asked them to activate the plan, I want bill waiver for Rs 600 for the last two months. Every time I call, the customer care representatives, they tell me that the plan has been changed and waiver has been approved. I have been given several complaint reference numbers in this regard but no resolution to the problem. Banty Kumar Sao Shastri Park, Delhi

Feedback:
Consumer VOICE responds Any plan is valid for 6 months. Thereafter, the service provider has the option to change the same. However you may represent to the nodal officer of the service provider for giving of add-on services. The charges for such services should be reversed.
