VOICE Education Team in Kamala Nehru College,Delhi
On 31st August, 2004, the Green Beans Club of Kamala Nehru College, Delhi University organized a Seminar on “Students as consumers and the advertising onslaught" in the Library Hall of Kamla Nehru College. Invitation was extended to VOICE and some schools for active participation in the seminar.

The Seminar marked the presence of the Principal Dr. Indira Sharma, Mrs. Savita Hanspal, Mrs Shashi Kanta Chopra and Dr Roopa Vajpeyi. About 150 students attended the seminar.

Anveeksha Tripathi, President of Green Beans Society welcomed the guests and gave a brief introduction about Green Beans Society and the role undertaken by VOICE in generating consumer awareness among students through Consumer Clubs programme. She emphasized that the commendable effort made by the VOICE group will have far reaching implications in nurturing the minds of young consumers today to enable them to become more vigilant adult consumers of tomorrow.

The VOICE team, in an interactive session, made a presentation on “Advertising and its impact on young Consumers”. Starting with the definition of advertising, the presentation revolved around the various ills of advertising and strategies adopted by multinational companies to lure the young consumers to rush after their brands.
Thereafter, Tarini of Journalism Honours (3rd Year), also an active Green Beans member presented startling facts on the issue where she pointed out that out of overall Indian population, 54% of population consisted of people under 25 years of age signifying young consumers as the biggest segment of Indian Consumers. She said that majority companies encash their products among younger folks, little wonder, 90% of Barista’s Customers are below 30 years of age.

Dr Roopa Vajpeyi, Programme Officer, Green Beans, involved the students in an Interactive Question Answer Session where students asked several questions pertaining to various consumer rights.
