Day one of the navratra is devoted to the puja of Shailputri. Shailputri means daughter of mountains. Parvati, the daughter of king of Mountains Himalaya, is known as "Shailputri". Mounting upon a bull, she carries a trident and a lotus with her two hands.
Bhramcharni (Second Incarnation)
Next day is devoted to Bhramcharni. Holding a "Kumbha" or water port in one hand and the other rosary in the other , she personifies love and loyalty. Bhramcharni is store-house of knowledge and wisdom. Rudraksha is her ornament.
Chandraghanta (Third Incarnation)
Worshipped on the 3rd day this Durga Shakti is astride a tiger, displays a golden hue to her skin, possesses ten hands and 3 eyes. Godess is worshipped in this form in Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) India. Eight of her hands display weapons while the remaining two are respectively in the mudras of gestures of boon giving and stopping harm. Chandra added to Ghanta, implies supreme bliss and knowledge, showering peace and serenity.
