Transport By Rail

Any animal cargo by rail must be accompanied by a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the District Magistrate’s (DM's) office.

As far as possible travel must be done at night, and the animals fed and rested during the day.

There must be an attendant travelling with the animals.

Proper food and water arrangements must be provided during the journey.

No pregnant, sick or injured animals should be part of the consignment.

The animals must be accompanied by a veterinary certificate testifying to their freedom from disease.

There must be a first aid kit to deal with emergencies en route.

All animal consignments must have proper documentation giving number of animals, name & address of consignee and purpose for which animals are being taken.

Floor must be matted to prevent slippage.

Transport By Air

Animals are required to be crated. Travelling crates must be large enough to allow the animals to stand and turn .

Animals must be accompanied by relevant documentation.

Under the Prevention of Cruelty (PCA) Act Section 11, it is a cognisable offence to use animals for animal contests. The penalty is a fine and / or jail upto 2 years.
