Create and publish information in an easy to read fashion
in English and Hindi and also create success stories of
persons benefited from Tobacco de-addiction and smoke free
environments in India. The publications will be released
on the occasion of WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY 2007 in Delhi. The
event will bring together leaders from all the stakeholders
to understand in details about the benefits of our campaign
and how each one of them can contribute to further strengthen
our campaign to make Delhi and India slowly a tobacco free
country.
The event will review and showcase our achievements till
date in effective implementation of the tobacco control
& consumption laws and what more needs to be done by
the various stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient
implementation of the various regulations in collaboration
with the State Governmetns. The event will offer an opportunity
to industry leaders, trade union leaders, consumer organisations
and political parties to pledge their support on our various
on-going initiatives supported by WHO and Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The list of participants will be drawn from the leading
members of the various industry associations, trade union
leaders, State Government nodal officers dealing with enforcement
of various tobacco control related laws, consumer organisations
and other NGOs based in Delhi and other States. The event
will be divided into four sessions. The first session will
be devoted towards the inauguration ceremony with the Hon’ble
Ministry of Health, Government of India, The Hon’ble
Chief Minister of Delhi and Industry leaders, while the
second session will be a panel discussion with Q & A
with various eminent persons dealing with tobacco related
activities in their respective organisations.
The Post lunch two sessions will be to work on the recommendations
and the future action plan by involving all the stakeholders.
The final outcome from the event will be documented and
published for wider circulation to build awareness and effective
involvement in the campaign to create smoke-free environment
in India. The proposed activity is supported by The Ministry
of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and
World Health Organisation, India Country Office.
